Continuing Training

After your first visit to Sky-High, you must contact them prior to each time you wish to visit for your training so that they can ensure they have enough staff available for you. They can cater any day they are open, however be aware that the drop zone can become very busy during peak summer times.

Currency Requirements

During your initial training, you are subject to currency requirements. The longer you leave it between each jump, the more you will have to repeat, and the more expensive it can be. The requirements get less strict the more you progress.

The Sky-High requirements are as found in the table provided.

Getting to the Drop Zone

Getting to the drop zone is always the responsibility of you, the skydiver (unless on a training course). The club often has drivers and minibuses driving, however on occasion, there is neither, and spaces are always limited. There are multiple trains that go from Edinburgh to Durham each house, and 2 direct buses that stop outside Sky-High direct from the station. These leave roughly every 15 minutes.

If you are a driver and have a car, please let us know and we will look to compensate your time if you drive other members.

A License & Beyond

After you complete your initial training you are granted your A license. This gives you the ability to jump without supervision. After this, you can progress through each additional license, with your B, C, and D licenses at 50, 200, and 1000 jumps retrospectively. For more information on these steps please see the British Skydiving website.

Immediately after your A license, you can start on the following. Those in bold are required to obtain your B license alongside the jump count:

Skydive Strathallan offers many of these training paths, however once licensed, you gain the ability to jump at most, if not all, dropzones in the UK, and, subject to specific drop zone requirements, others abroad. This allows you to pick and choose where you would like to do further training. Skyhigh Skydiving at Peterlee and Skydiving Northwest at Cark are the two largest dropzones near Edinburgh that you may wish to consider.
